Salary for Aircraft and Avionics Equipment Maintenance Technicians

career as an engineer

An aircraft and avionics technician's job is very demanding. Nearly 270,000 people work in the aircraft and avionics industries, which generates $43.1 million annually in economic activity. This occupation requires a broad knowledge of aviation systems and must be proficient in using hand tools and equipment. Avionics technicians also may perform routine and FAA-required inspections on aircraft.

There are several types of jobs available for aircraft and avionics equipment mechanics or technicians. The United States has the largest workforce of such professionals. In particular, more than half the aviation mechanics are employed in the scheduled air transportation sector. Other employers include government and aerospace parts and components manufacturing industries. A small number of these mechanics work for non-scheduled airlines.

The training you receive in the field of aircraft mechanics or technicians and avionics device technician will prepare your for a fulfilling career. After you complete your program you are eligible to take the FAA certification exam. These certifications will make you qualified for a variety of jobs in the aviation industry, including at major airlines, structural repair facilities, and manufacturers. These positions can lead to a high-paying job, so it's worth looking into this career path.

Avionics technicians have the ability to not only earn a certification in avionics equipment; but they can also maintain radio and automatic-pilot flying systems. A certification in Avionics can be earned, and you can also be licensed as an A&P mechanic. The Avionics technician is highly skilled and highly valued. There will be an increase of 5% in the next ten years.

This job requires high levels of concentration, attention, and physical and psychological strength. Technicians work under tight deadlines and must adhere to safety standards. They often lift objects up to 70 pounds and stand in precarious and awkward positions. In some industries, there are unwritten standards that bypass engineering documents. Protect yourself against these hazards. An aircraft can be seriously damaged if it's operated under extreme pressure.

Avionics technicians work on the maintenance, repair, or installation of electronic instruments in planes. In addition, they maintain radar systems, navigation aids, and radio communication devices. As digital technology advances, so does the time it takes to maintain computer systems. A mechanic needs to be certified in Airframe to obtain a license to operate with most avionics. Additional licenses may also be required for work on aircraft.

A mechanic also inspects and maintains aircraft. A mechanic is responsible for scheduling maintenance and repair. Some mechanics specialize in preventative maintenance, ensuring that airplanes are safe to fly. They inspect plane engines, landing gears, instruments, pressurized section, and other accessories. They also replace parts and keep records of maintenance. Technicians also troubleshoot and repair aircraft electrical systems.

FAQ

What do civil engineers do for a living?

Civil engineering refers to the design and construction structures such as roads and bridges, buildings and dams. It includes all aspects of structural engineering including foundations, geotechnics and hydraulics as well as soils, safety analysis, traffic management, environmental impact assessment, and safety analysis. Civil engineers make sure that the project achieves its goals while remaining cost-effective and sustainable. They must ensure that the structure is safe and durable.

They may also be involved in the planning and implementation of public works programs. They may oversee, for example, the design and construction of roads, bridges or tunnels.

Elon Musk: What kind of engineer would you be?

He's an inventor who loves to think outside of the box.

He is also a risk-taker.

He is not afraid of trying new ideas, and he is willing take risks.

Elon Musk is an excellent example of someone who thinks differently than others. He doesn't listen to what others say. Instead, he tries out his own ideas and then decides whether they worked or not. He changes his ideas if they don’t work and then he tries again until he has something that works. This way, he gets better at solving problems and developing innovative ideas.

What does a Chemical Engineer do, and what are their responsibilities?

Chemical engineers are skilled in math, science, engineering and technology to develop chemical products, processes, equipment and technologies.

Chemical engineers may specialize in such areas as pharmaceuticals, petroleum refining and food processing.

They collaborate closely with scientists and researchers to solve technical problems.

How To

How to read engineering drawing

Engineering drawings offer a visual description for an object. These drawings can include many elements, such as dimensions, symbols and text. Engineering drawings have been around since ancient times. In Egypt 3000 BC, the first drawing was created. They are used by engineers to design things like bridges, buildings and machines.

Engineers use engineering drawings to describe what something looks and feels like. This helps others to understand what you are talking about. Engineers use numbers and symbols to represent measurements. This makes it easier for people who don't know anything about engineering.

There are two main types, 2D (or 3D) of engineering drawings.

2D drawings represent flat representations of three-dimensional objects. These include plans, sections and elevation views.

3D drawings depict real-life objects from many angles. Computer software is often used to create 3D drawings. SketchUp, for example, allows you to view a bridge from the sky. Next, choose "View" and "Top View." After that, you will rotate your view to see everything from above.

When looking at 2D drawings, you should look at the whole picture. You shouldn't be focusing on just one area. Make sure to notice important parts in the upper right corner.
